            At some point in time Campbell moved to Aspenvale, which his wife inherited from her father.  Buchanan had been head surveyor for the Patton Expedition.  He and Charles had cherry picked off their own choices of land while actually engaged in surveying for the Loyal Company.  Aspenvale became known as the home of Major Charles Campbell.  A generation was to pass before any attempt was made to profit from the salt deposits at Saltville.  The year after these tracts were patented the French and Indian War began, and it was not safe to live in this part of the Commonwealth.  Charles died in 1767 in exile back in Beverly Manor, where he is buried.
